Still in Călimănești, the next day began with a trip to some Roman ruins. It turns out they were a fair bit more difficult reach than expected, so being distracted by puppies and menaced by angry dogs yesterday to send us home worked out in our favour.
This week, my companion and I drove through Romania in order to reach a spa resort known for the thermal springs common throughout the area.
We visited for a few days, and it was well worth the trip. The mishaps and adventure time stories are coming in the near future, but first I wanted to talk about something I’ve consistently noticed about our travels through the countryside.Read More »
I’ve been in Romania for about a month now, and while my pace of learning Romanian has been glacial at best, I can find no end of enjoyment noticing little quirks of the language that entertain me. Perhaps you will find them mildly amusing also?
I am not a technical wizard. I might be able to work my way through problems on PCs, build them and figure things out over time, but I’m not really familiar with things like video editing software or the logistics of streaming. I don’t talk about politics on the internet often. It’s too depressing, honestly. This is partly because every so often, I find a glimmer of hope. Hope that is usually left impotent, as I can’t help but notice the usual pattern of things looking up for a little bit, before it all tumbles back down.
And partly because no matter what you say about literally anyone, internet people instantly assemble into their with-us-or-against-us hard stances and reasonable discussions are hard to come by. So I’m just mostly talking about the system as a whole, but if you happen to think I’m specifically talking about some party or specific politician, well, I can’t control that.
It’s Wrestlemania weekend, and for those that don’t know, it’s the biggest Professional Wrestling (aka. ‘Sports Entertainment’) event on the yearly calendar. It’s one of these big events that even people who’ve never watched a wrestling match in their life can name, in the same way people in the UK know what the Superbowl is despite viewership among the general public being extremely low.Read More »
